By RINGO V. FERRIOL, Education Program Supervisor, DepEd Romblon
To ensure the continuous support of the education stakeholders and to help our schools in the province become more ready for the opening of classes in August amid the health crisis brought by COVID- 19 Pandemic, DepEd Romblon successfully conducted the first ever joint virtual BrigadaEskwela and OplanBalikEskwela Kick- off Program with the theme “Pagpapanatili ng BayanihanTungosaKalidad ng Edukasyon para saKabataan” on June 22, 2020 via Facebook Live and simulcast on some local cable operators’ community channels.
The program lasted for 1 and half hours featuring the message of support of our political leaders like the President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines- Romblon Chapter Hon. Gerard S. Montojo, Hon. Governor Jose R. Riano and Hon. Congressman Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona. The Bike of the Philippines president Joel Uichico also gave his pledge of commitment in continuously giving support to our schools in the province.
Selected Schools Division Office (SDO)personnel also had a chance to give updates, issues and concerns in their respective areas generally highlighting the idea that DepEd will be opening classes without making the learners go to school thus to avoid getting infected by COVID-19. Instead our school kids will learn through distance and blended learning using printed self- learning modules, online learning resources like DepEd Commons, smart phones, laptops, television and radio.
Guided by the different official issuances, they also discussed and reiterated to follow the health protocols and other safety measures being implemented by the government to avoid the spread and transmission of the disease in the province. (Contributor))
