NBA Is Back On TV!
The NBA is back.
Basketball-loving Romblomanons can now watch once again the NBA games in their homes.
The biggest basketball league in the world has announced it has entered into an agreement with Cignal TV and Smart Communications to air NBA games in the Philippines through free tv, satellite television, and livestreaming.
The showing of the NBA games in the Philippines started last July 31 (local time) with TV5 and One Sports airing the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers that featured two of the hottest players in the NBA today, Lebron James and Kawhi Leonard. The Lakers won on a James follow up in the dying seconds of the game.
TV5 and ONE Sports said they will air only “select” playoff games in the first and second rounds while the Finals in the Western Conference and Eastern Conference will be shared between the two channels.
The 2020 NBA Finals will be broadcast live solely by TV5 sometime in the middle of October.
Smart Communications will livestream NBA TV Philippines through its new top-of-the-line service and will only be available to the network’s subscribers, said the report.
“The NBA restart is set against a uniquely challenging moment in time for our fans in the Philippines, who are among the most passionate and dedicate NBA supporters in the world,” said NBA Asia Managing Director Scott Levy.
Cignal TV President and CEO Robert Galang said, “We will deliver NBA content, not just for our pay TV subscribers but to the general public. Everyone will have access to the NBA through our channels TV5 and ONE Sports. But of course, you get the best NBA experience on television of you’re on Cignal.”
The NBA games used to be aired in the Philippines by the defunct ABS-CBN Sports.
